Back on Earth

Please forgive the incredible delay in getting a blog post up. Initially, I had started this as a writing blog, but with classes and activities I haven’t had time to write. As I was thinking about what to blog about, I got caught up in the excitement of living in the middle of campus life.

You might remember the time I came up with the idea of writing parodies of campus life. I couldn’t help it. Everywhere I looked, I saw a joke that could be made. Such as with mirrors. That was my first idea. To write a parody of the mirrors in the hallways of my residence hall—so called because “dorm” has a negative connotation among the residence hall staff. Why so, I do not know. My university is known as a gathering of either rich brats or scholarship students. I’m not exaggerating. My Chemistry teacher from high school was worried that I wouldn’t be able to fit in. Fortunately, I’ve found other students with whom I get along. Not everyone is a brat.

But there are people who are. One reason I lost the will to write parodies is because I realized the concern behind my Chemistry teacher’s words. A couple weeks into school, I had a bit of suitemate drama. My roommate and I share a study room with two other people rooming together, so we got to endure all this together. One of my suitemates, let’s call her P (which is not any of her initials, by the way), wanted her boyfriend to stay over—he’d also already bought the plane ticket. However, it went against her suitemate T’s beliefs.

We should respect each other’s cultures and beliefs, right? It is a big policy of my university too. However, P felt that her rights were not being respected by T, and the resulting conflict climaxed with a huge drama that had all the residence staff working on this. Finally, this went to the higher ups, and she had to sleep on an air mattress in our study room that blocked the way to the door out. I ended up spending Labor Day weekend with friends in another residence hall. It’s kind of awkward seeing a guy sleep with his arm around his girlfriend and no shirt on. Not that they did anything there. It’s just… awkward.

Other things have happened since then, and I’ve been disillusioned with dorm life (Sorry, residence hall staff, but I have to say it like this because saying “residence hall life” just sounds weird) and really don’t want to write about anything related to living here. I do want to talk about activities because there have been so many other things going on.

Like Ballroom. I joined the ballroom dance team at my university and I’M IN LOVE. It is awesome awesome awesome.

Parodies

I love reading, writing, and blogging, but with school starting up again, I have not much time for any of these. With school starting again, an old friend called stress has returned. I need something that allows me to do what I like and beat away old stress.

Hence, I have decided that starting tomorrow, I will start writing parodies. I will write parodies. Read the parodies over for errors. And I will blog again.

Note that these parodies will not be expressing my true feelings about any topic. I love school, but I will be making fun of school. I like Facebook, but I might end up making fun of some Facebook-related topic.

That is all. For today.

Study? What study?

Dear blog,

I'm so sorry to have abandoned you and your nice followers here for so long. So much has been happening, my head's a-reelin'. First, there was camp. I totally forgot about it until last minute, so I didn't have time to write a goodbye post. You must have felt abandoned. I know my dog did. I did remember to say goodbye to Spottie, but he doesn't understand goodbye. I'm still gone, and I hear he's still pining.

Campus is so big. I walk around a lot under the hot, hot sun. Will I ever get used to the heat? I don't know. But I do know that I can't wait until Summer's over and Winter's here. And here I thought that Ash would be the only Winter fey I'd welcome. I'll take Winter and all that cold, cold, cold.... Every day, I feel like I'll get heatstroke, and every day I survive... somehow.

I hope you don't mind this short post. I have a lot of reading to get to and lots of clubs to check out.

I love you blog. Don't hate me for dedicating less time to you. It only means that I have more that I must [learn to] love.

Hearts,
Kris

EmmaJoyWrites

Guess what! My friend Emma began book blogging too! It's the week for blogs (referring to my post on Izzy's new blog). I'm actually posting this a couple days late, but we've been having trouble getting on Skype at the same time lately what with summer break, vacations, and her living halfway around the world.

Complicated, huh?

Well, Emma's a fellow reader and writer with good taste in music and fashion and so worth the minutes I spend chatting with her in Skype. If you're reading my blog, you probably like reading and writers too (or maybe my weird sense of humor?), so you might enjoy reading Emma's blog too. She's a really cool person.

I hope you'll check out her blog and maybe give her a follow!
